COVID-19 Health and Wellness Measures
Last Updated on March 11, 2021
The new coronavirus and the illness that it causes, COVID-19, are wreaking havoc on every aspect of life. With more than 352,000 confirmed cases in the U.S. and 1,324,907 current confirmed cases across the globe, many of us are very aware and even fearful of the negative implications this has on our daily lives.
Due to current extensive social distancing practices and quarantining, we know that people in recovery and those who are actively addicted are now some of the most vulnerable individuals. The lack of social support, structure, and accessible treatment at this time can have devastating consequences for those who need it most.
First and foremost, we want you to know that we understand your concerns and fears and we are here for you. Whether you or a relative is in need and is struggling to receive treatment or ongoing recovery support at this time, we have taken the steps to ensure that you and your loved ones can access safe and effective substance abuse treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
How We Continue to Protect Client Health and Wellness During the COVID-19 Pandemic
In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have implemented the following policies and procedures at all of our facilities to protect the health, safety, and overall wellness of our current clients and staff.
- Thorough screening process: We have implemented additional screening measures during the admissions process and onsite admission. Any individuals who do not pass our initial onsite screening process will be referred to Mat Gorman, CEO or Terri Edwards, COO for approval into the facility. If approved, this decision will be taken to Dr. Wilson, who may agree with the decision or override the decision.
- COVID-19 instant test kits: We have COVID-19 instant test kits on-hand and they are located in a secured area. Individuals who are onsite and do not pass our initial screening may be tested using an instant test kit to ensure proper decisions are made regarding the safety of our facilities.
- New admission criteria based on current travel restrictions: In adherence to Governor Abbott’s recent executive order to self-quarantine all travelers entering Texas from certain states and cities, the staff at Nova Recovery Center will not be admitting individuals directly into our programs. This decision will be made based on the status of the individual’s 14-day quarantine period.
- Online drug rehab programs: For those individuals who cannot travel to treatment at this time or who do not prefer to enroll in a face-to-face drug rehab program due to the circumstances, we offer a convenient online intensive outpatient program (IOP). We accept most forms of insurance and are happy to answer any questions you have about online treatment and payment options.
- Enhanced facility hygiene: We are always dedicated to ensuring that all hygiene and safety measures are consistently being followed at all of our facilities. In addition to our regularly scheduled cleaning routines, we have also prioritized thorough deep cleaning and disinfecting procedures that will occur regularly. We are also encouraging all staff and clients to practice strict personal hygiene, such as consistent hand-washing and social distancing practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- Staff safety and monitoring: If one of our staff members becomes infected with COVID-19 or has been exposed to the virus, we have established a coordinated response and organized protocols to protect the health and wellbeing of that staff member as well as other staff and clients onsite.
