Summary:

The Line Cook/Prep Cook position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing multiple meals per day with the inclusion of special dietary needs for our residents. The Line Cook/Prep Cook is also responsible for ensuring that inventory is up to date, all work spaces are clean and tidy and no cross contamination between food products.

Responsibilities:

  • Cook meats, poultry, fish and shellfish by using recipes
  • Preparing starches, vegetables, salads, breads and desserts using a recipe
  • Creating sauces, gravies and soups
  • Preparing, setting up, and serving hot foods on cafeteria line at correct temperature on time
  • Food item inventory
  • Using kitchen equipment in a safe manner
  • Maintaining proper hygiene during working hours with frequent hand washing

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year prior experience in a restaurant or institutional setting preparing and presenting meals
  • Must be able to perform all phases of the Food Service Department, including operation of all equipment
  • Must be able to follow written guides such as recipes, menus, schedules, and special instructions
  • The ability to operate and clean all food service equipment
  • Knowledge of food characteristics, i.e.: color, taste, consistency, volume and cooking times
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
